♕ Make Up Look ~ Aurora Borealis 2.0 ♕

Let's get back on track with my pre-Freedomination looks - don't worry, more makeup featuring the new NABLA collection are coming up very soon, but meanwhile I need to catch up with the ones I made previously! (Although I'll be saving a couple of them for September!)

Today's look is quite elaborate (not gonna lie, it gave me a hard time) and it's inspired by an arm-makeup (aka eyelooks 100% designed on arms or hands) by Gabrielle Alexis ~ @gabxxrielle. Keep reading to see her original work!

So cool, right? I fell in love when I saw it, I was mesmerized by the colours and the glitters and the shape. The inspiration/original name of this look are Northern Lights - aka Aurora Borealis. (And since I've already done an Aurora Borealis look before, about one year ago or so, this one is like 2.0 edition XD)

Recreating this arm art on my eyes was tricky, especially because I don't have extremely big, spacious lids. Basically everything was fine until I had to add the outer lines/glitter detailing XD So, while following Gabrielle's design as much as I could, I also had to adapt it to my eye shape and size - and thus it ended up looking a bit different from the original.

I started off with the crease/outer corner blending (trying to keep in mind the details I have to add later): I used a brighter blue shadow first (Eternity by NABLA), as main shade, starting from the inner corner and moving outwards framing the lid. I applied a darker blue (Baltic by NABLA) to add depth, then I used a matte blue shade (Boo Berry by MUG) as transition shade - but I will adjust the blending later too.
On the lid I applied Jade Pearl, a loose eyeshadow by NYX that is actually just like the shade Gabrielle used in her arm makeup - but that looks so aquamarine here D: This really bugs me >.<
Anyway, I applied this eyeshadow all over the lid,and I blended it into the outer blue shades as smoothly I could.
On the lower lid I applied Fashion Addict by MUG (looks like I used also a dark purple, but that actually is the result of the later application of the black eyeshadow on the lower lashline). I applied the same shade on the inner part of the crease area, right above the blue. The original look had a very high blending, that almost touches the eyebrow - but I preferred to keep it lower.

I carved the light green lines using a white eyepencil as base, to 'erase' the blue underneath and have a guideline. I mixed two different aqua eyeshadows (Zoe, which is really pale, and Atmosphere, which is brighter and richer) and pressed them on the white base.
According to the original arm makeup, there was supposed to be some visible blue between the lines and above the glitters - but due to not enough space, I had to chose between glitters and the blue... And I chose glitters!
I applied a thin layer of lash glue wherever I needed to apply the glitter, and then I pressed them on the glue using a small lip brush. Glitters are Twinkle by GlitterTubes (I don't have any silver glitters as of now, so I used the ones I thought where more fitting). At this point I had to adjust the transition shade a little, so I went back to Boo Berry and applied it some more and blended it - all with a blending brush.
Eyeliner is very graphical - a long winged line with a backwards detail that goes into the crease. Needless to say, I used Tattoo Liner in Trooper by Kat Von D.
Some final steps: I used a bright aqua mineral pigment on the inner corner, Antique White on my brow bone and Nocturne on my lower lashline. I applied a black eyepencil on my waterline, my current favourite falsies (Wispies by Ardell) and, lastly, mascara (which, back then, was still Le Film Noir by NABLA).

    1. Grazie!
